Insane Betsy DeVos Press Release Celebrates Jim Crow Education System as Pioneer of "School Choice"

By on Feb 28, 2017 in Press Release | 0 comments

First of all, it sounds like a seventh grader wrote this, which is perhaps what happens when you put someone who has never really had a real job in charge of the Department of Education. Second, this official 2017 federal government press release celebrates legal segregation (!!!) on the grounds that the Jim Crow education system gave black students “more options,” as if there was a robust competition between HBCUs and white universities for their patronage. (When black Mississippian James Meredith chose the “option” of enrolling at the University of Mississippi in 1962, a massive white mob formed on the campus; two people were shot to death and hundreds injured in the ensuing battle/riot, during which federal marshals came under heavy gunfire, requiring the ultimate intervention of 20,000 U.S. soldiers and thousands more National...

Gay Pride Mass Streaking? Manchester Evening News DUPED by Hoax Press Release

By on Feb 26, 2017 in Press Release | 0 comments

A 2015 Manchester Evening News (Credit: Facebook) The UK Manchester Evening News fell for a hoax press release claiming there was going to be a “naked streak” in Manchester’s Gay Village to raise money, the Press Gazette reported. While the story has been unpublished from the Manchester Evening News‘ website, it was re-published on MSN.com. iMediaEthics compared the newspaper’s story with the original press release. It appears that the Evening News copied and pasted not just quotes but text from the press release, without noting the information all came from a (fake) press release. The article did not mention the press release or attribute any of the quotes or information to the press release. In other words, not only were they hoaxed, but they also apparently plagiarized from the fake press release. The activist group FactsMCR, which is a critic of the Manchester Pride event, sent the fake press release to the Evening News, with its member Geoff Stafford complaining to the Press Gazette that the Evening News only prints positive news of the annual pride event. Stafford said the Evening News printed the story “within an hour or two” and the Evening News didn’t apparently try to fact check. “This wasn’t done as a joke or for malicious purposes,” Stafford told iMediaEthics. “It was in itself a journalistic act. To expose low standards in the mainstream media. To show how newspapers have left themselves open to being a conduit for propaganda. Do they care?” A copy of the Manchester Evening News’ article was published on MSN. iMediaEthics highlighted what was copied from the press release. Click to enlarge. Beaufield Responds to Misleading Press Release Issued by Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group

By on Feb 26, 2017 in Press Release | 0 comments

MONTREAL, QUEBEC–(Marketwired – Feb 25, 2017) – Beaufield Resources Inc. (“Beaufield”) (TSX VENTURE:BFD) wishes to respond to the misleading press release issued by Jim Deluce and Shanghai Huaxin Group (Hong Kong) Limited (collectively, the “Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group”). On February 23, 2017, Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group issued a press release in which they announced their intention to nominate directors for election at the annual meeting of the shareholders of Beaufield to be held on February 27, 2017. The Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group issued the press release without prior disclosure to or consultation with the Board of Directors of Beaufield. In considering the complaints in the Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group press release, and the competence and integrity of Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group, shareholders of Beaufield should consider the following: The Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group press release is misleading in suggesting that Ronald Stewart, a director nominee proposed by the Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group, supports the actions of the Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group. Mr. Stewart has informed Beaufield that his name was included in the February 23, 2017 press release without his prior knowledge or consent. Mr. Stewart also has informed Beaufield that he strongly opposes the steps proposed by the Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group, and encourages shareholders of Beaufield not to support the Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group. Another one of the nominees proposed by the Deluce/Shanghai Group, Bernie Deluce, is currently a director of Beaufield. Mr. Deluce, together with all of the other directors of Beaufield, voted to approve the recently completed bought deal private placement, announced on February 21, 2017, that is the focus of complaint in the Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group’s February 23, 2017 press release. As a director of Beaufield, Mr. Deluce has consistently voted to support Beaufield’s current strategic direction, about which the Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group press release complains. A third proposed Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group nominee, Zhuang MiaoZhong is the representative of a shareholder of Beaufield that has had, since 2011, a preemptive right to participate in any equity financings completed by Beaufield. Over the past six years, this shareholder has never exercised its preemptive rights and chose again not to exercise such rights during the recently completed bought deal private placement that is the subject of complaint in the Deluce/Shanghai Huaxin Group’s February 23, 2017 press...
